Everything you need to know to find the perfect wedding cake

Filed under Cupcake Wedding Cakes, Simple Wedding Cakes

One of the fun new fresh ideas when it comes to wedding cakes is something that’s got me very excited.  It’s extremely unique, it’s easy to make and fortunately it’s considerably cheaper than traditional wedding cakes.  Cupcake wedding cakes are a great new trend at weddings all across the country.

As I’ve already mentioned, they’re unique, they’re fun, they’re easy, and their considerably cheaper.  Even with all that, you’re going to be thrilled with how much you can do with a cupcake wedding cake.  These types of cakes can be transported easily and put together at the reception hall.  You can even make the individual cupcakes while in advance, wrap them with plastic wrap and aluminum foil and store them in a resealable container in freezer until the big day.

These types of cakes are also a lot easier to serve during your reception.  There’s no cutting of the cake by the bride and groom (unless you want) and the reception staff does not have to cut the cake for each individual guest.  As a matter of fact, you could leave it to the guest to come up to the tiers and take whatever cupcake they want, back to the table.

If you’re thinking of a cupcake wedding cakes stop thinking round.  Cupcake pans come in many different shapes including squares, stars and hearts.  Some have even chosen to go with mini cupcakes which provide a bite-size desert and can go even further in helping your budget. Maybe you want a combination of both regular and mini size cupcakes.

When you go with a cupcake wedding cake you allow yourself a lot of options.  You can serve four or five different flavors of cake and an equally diverse selection of frostings.  Just make sure you keep everything along the same color scheme and theme.

Once you’ve got your cupcakes sorted out and you know exactly what color you’re going to go with, you can start to think about what you can put between each cupcake.  Some choose to go with fresh flowers or fruit and others may want to run silk fabrics flowing between each one.  It’s important to experiment with each individual idea.  Head over to your local craft store and start looking at items that could be run between each cupcake or even a group of cupcakes.

You’re also going to want to think about cake toppers.  With traditional wedding cakes there is usually just one cake topper but, with cupcakes each one has its own topper.  Obviously, these are going to be a miniature variety.  This also gives you an opportunity to provide your guests with some sort of keepsake to help them to remember your wedding.

As you can see, cupcake wedding cakes are a wonderful alternative.  Hopefully understand why I get so excited about this idea.  Get creative and try different things.  This is your wedding day and you want it to reflect who you are in every area, including your wedding cake.
